Every piece of framing in a Mytikas cabin comes off one of our two Howick roll-forming lines in Florence, Colorado. Galvanized American steel coil goes in. Studs, track, joists and trusses come out, each formed to within half a millimeter, cut to length, punched and labeled.
What the machine does
A roll-former shapes flat steel into a framing member by passing it through a series of rollers. Ours does more than shape it. Working from a digital file of the building, the machine also:
- cuts every member to its exact length,
- forms the service holes for wiring and plumbing,
- dimples the fastener locations,
- makes the swages, notches and lip cuts where members meet,
- and prints a part number on every piece.
By the time a stud reaches the framing floor, the decisions have been made. Nobody measures it and nobody cuts it.
Why that matters
Accuracy. A frame built from identical, labeled parts goes together the way it was drawn. Walls are flat and openings are square before any finish goes on.
Speed. Holes and fastener locations are already in the steel, which cuts labor on our floor and on a job site.
Less waste. Every member is cut to length at the machine, which limits cutting in the field.
Consistency. The tenth cabin matches the first, because it is made from the same file.
Not only for cabins
The same two lines supply Mytikas Steel: light-gauge steel framing members, wall panels, floor systems and roof trusses for builders and developers. Gauges run from 20 to 12, with finished member widths from 3.5 to 14 inches. Our studs, tracks and joists are ICC-ES Evaluated under Evaluation Report ESR-4576.
Small jobs typically ship in two to four weeks. Many larger projects ship in under 30 days.
Questions we hear
What is a Howick? A roll-forming machine for light-gauge steel framing. We run two.
Where does the steel come from? We use galvanized American steel. The framing in our cabins is 100% recycled.
Can you build from my plans? Yes. Send a floor plan, architectural drawings or a full engineered set, and we turn it into labeled members, panels and trusses.
Can I order standard studs and track? Yes, by profile, gauge and length. No drawings required.
