The cabinetry in a Mytikas cabin is not bought in. It is built in our own shop, in the same Florence, Colorado factory as the cabin around it: hardwood maple, dovetail joints and soft-close hardware, under quartz countertops.
In the film above, Ed Libby, our Chief Construction Officer, walks through what goes into it.
What it is made of
- Hardwood maple, painted or stained to the designer package you choose.
- Dovetail joints in the drawers, the joint a furniture maker uses because it holds under years of pulling.
- Undermount, soft-close hardware, so drawers and doors close quietly and the slides stay out of sight.
- Quartz countertops in the kitchen and the bath.
Why we build it ourselves
Cabinetry is the part of a cabin a guest touches most. Across the industry it is commonly bought from someone else.
Building it in house means the cabinets are made for the cabin, not adapted to it. They are sized to the plan, fitted against walls that are flat and corners that are square, and inspected by the same people who build the rest of the unit. It is also why cabinetry is named in our 10-year full-unit warranty, alongside doors, drawers, tile, flooring, countertops and trim.
Three looks, one standard
The construction does not change with the designer package. The finish does.
- Modern: gray painted maple, matte black fixtures, veined quartz. Included.
- Traditional: white painted maple, stainless-finish fixtures, warm taupe quartz. Included.
- Mountain Lodge: natural-stain maple with solid maple trim, upgraded matte black fixtures, cool gray quartz. $4,200.
Beyond the cabins
The same shop supplies cabinetry for the custom buildings we panelize, such as resort lodges, clubhouses and workforce housing. One factory, one standard.
