What is under a Mytikas cabin? A steel chassis built for it

The steel chassis

The integrated steel chassis under every cabin.

Most park model cabins are a wood box carried on a generic trailer frame. A Mytikas cabin is built on a custom steel chassis that is permanently integrated into its structure. The chassis is part of the cabin, not a trailer underneath it.

Why the chassis matters

Every park model spends its first day on the highway. Whatever sits underneath carries the full weight of the cabin over every mile between the factory and the site, and then carries it for as long as the cabin stands.

We design and build the chassis for the cabin it carries. The steel floor, walls and roof framing are tied into it permanently, so the cabin travels, sets and lives as one steel structure.

Three ways to set the same cabin

Because the chassis is permanent and structural, one cabin can be set three ways, as your jurisdiction allows:

  • As a permanent structure, such as an ADU on a prepared foundation.
  • As a temporary structure.
  • As an RVIA-certified park model, keeping its axles and wheels.

On private land, your county or city planning office decides which of these applies. We are glad to help with that conversation, and our six-step site guide is the place to start.

What it means if you run a property

Operators buy nights in service. A steel structure will not burn, rot or warp, and "Structure and chassis" is the first line of coverage in our 10-year full-unit warranty: the integrated steel chassis, structural framing, floor, walls, roof framing and connections. Short-term rental and resort use are covered on the same terms as personal use.

Questions we hear

Does the cabin stay on wheels, or can it go on a permanent foundation? Either. It can be set as a permanent or a temporary structure, or keep its axles and wheels for a park model installation, as your jurisdiction allows.

Is it still a park model RV? Yes. Our cabins are park model RVs, RVIA certified to ANSI A119.5. They are also built to meet the most recent International Residential, Mechanical, Fuel Gas, Plumbing and Energy Conservation codes.

Can I move the cabin later? Yes, through us. Moves must be planned and performed by Mytikas to keep the warranty in force. Relocation is a quoted service.

What does my site need? Access for delivery, a prepared foundation, utility connections including 50-amp electrical service, and local permits. Our Concierge Site Prep and White-Glove Delivery service can handle all of it, from $30,000.
